Developmental Editing, also referred to as content, structural, or substantive editing, will typically take place upon the completion of the first draft of your manuscript. It focuses on the big picture of your novel. At this stage, I will look at the overall organization of the storyline, including: character development, consistency, pacing, flow, plot, timeline, structure, maintenance of the author’s voice, and so much more.

I offer these 2 services as an automatic bundle because it’s just how my brain works! Copy/line editing is where we get into the nitty-gritty. At this stage, I will correct grammatical errors, spelling, punctuation, fragments, and repetition of words and phrases. I will also fact-check, look for tense and detail consistency, continuity and timeline issues, awkward phrasing, and so much more.

I will also be looking to preserve the author’s voice and ensure flow and musicality of sentence structure to enhance the overall readability of the story.

The last step before publication. At this stage, I will do a final read-through to check for lingering grammar, spelling, and punctuation errors, correct chapter headings, page numbers, page breaks, table of contents, etc.

• Please contact me for availability and current turnaround time. 
• I will provide a complimentary 1,000-word sample edit for all new editing clients.
• All edits and suggestions will be provided using Track Changes in Microsoft Word. Manuscripts are edited using the Chicago Manual of Style and Merriam-Webster's Dictionary as reference guides.
• A deposit of 50% is due at the time of booking for all editing services. The remainder of your balance will be due once you receive the final product and are completely satisfied with my work. 
• Payments are processed through PayPal, Venmo, or Zelle.
• I want my authors to feel completely comfortable working with me, and I would love to get to know you. If you would like to video chat to discuss your manuscript during the process, please let me know!
• Do you have books in your backlist that need another (or first-time!) editing pass? I will edit your backlist for the same rate as my regular services!
